Jan17th Dom Collins Photo of Guest A SINGING postman from Ancoats, Dom Collins, began playing the guitar only two years ago and has since built a reputation across Manchester with his witty lyrics. Dom says: "I went out to play one night at a club in Mossley called "The Blazing Rag". The owner wouldn't let me play because they weren't my own songs. He said it was for singer/songwriters only, so I went away and wrote a song about him and came back and sang it. It was called, "You Can't Play Covers on The Acoustic Night". It all started from there." Most of Dom's songs are about life in Ancoats. Dom said: "I've written songs about my son too, one of which is called, “Can You Lend Me a Tenner?”. His Album “Canadian Geese Over Ancoats Sky” can be bought at the Tib Street Chippy in Ancoats.
Jan24th Martin Young Photo of Guest An English Folk Singer with Roots firmly in the English Tradition. A songwriter who's songs are being performed by Keith Kendrick and Martyn Wyndham-Read among others. His repertoire includes traditional and contemporary songs. One of the most entertaining performers on the circuit: - Reviewers have likened him to Richard Thompson and Nic Jones. Martin also leads a group working in the field of English Traditional Music and Country Dancing and facilitates workshops and study days, with live music played on Melodeon, Violin and Guitar.

If you prefer traditional songs, then tonight is a must for you! He accompanies himself on guitar and sings mostly English, with some Scottish and Irish songs.

Feb21st Fyrish Photo of Guest FYRISH is a folk duo of Marjorie Paterson (cello) and Dave Cowan (vocals and guitar). Marjorie originally from the Black Isle, loves to play cello accompaniments in a wide range of styles. Dave, from Glasgow, is a singer and guitar player, has a very fine voice, and has been singing traditional and contemporary folk songs for many years. He has a relaxed, easy style and a mellow voice. FYRISH have a wide repertoire of folk songs from all over the world, with lyrics which will grab your attention, and melodies to warm the heart. So, go and listen to them! There’s a treat in store for you!
Feb28th Ann English Photo of Guest With 30 years on the folk scene Ann English (Kinder Folk, Wits End) is a very popular local singer/songwriter with quality guitar. Her latest CD was released on Friday 6 Feb 2004. Ann is one of the "Acoustic Collective" who run the Tuesday night session at The Old General, Dukinfield. She is also on the organising committee of the forthcoming Dukinfield Music Festival.

Apr11th Dave Ellis and Bruce Baillie Photo of Guest Dave Ellis has been 20 years on the road for over 20 years, he first started playing guitar age nine, first live gigs started aged 17, working local colleges. Blues Guitarist Dave works in a solo capacity featuring acoustic and electric guitar work. Bruce Baillie from West Yorkshire who excels in amusing songs.

June6th Fred Loader Photo of Guest A rare opportunity to see Fred Loader. Kevin Tarpey says of Fred "He is one of the best musicians on the local folk scene. Virtuoso level on guitar and mandolin! Great singer, doesn't write songs as far as I know but has a great repertoire. Covers Bob Dylan, Donavon, James Taylor, Ry Cooder, Paul Simon,etc. He's also the best slide guitarist I've ever seen. He played for many years with Dave Burrows as Nightshift. They split up about six years ago, but got back together for a one off gig at the Full Circle the other year. It was quite a night!"
