Jan Jan	3rd & 10th	Singers Nights	Special nights for the local singers & musicians who support our guests throughout the year.
Jan	17th	Dom Collins	A SINGING postman from Ancoats, Dom Collins, began playing the guitar only two years ago and has since built a reputation across Manchester with his witty lyrics. Dom says: "I went out to play one night at a club in Mossley called "The Blazing Rag". The owner wouldn't let me play because they weren't my own songs. He said it was for singer/songwriters only, so I went away and wrote a song about him and came back and sang it. It was called, "You Can't Play Covers on The Acoustic Night". It all started from there." Most of Dom's songs are about life in Ancoats. Dom said: "I've written songs about my son too, one of which is called, “Can You Lend Me a Tenner?”. His Album “Canadian Geese Over Ancoats Sky” can be bought at the Tib Street Chippy in Ancoats.
Jan	24th	Martin Young	An English Folk Singer with Roots firmly in the English Tradition. A songwriter who's songs are being performed by Keith Kendrick and Martyn Wyndham-Read among others. His repertoire includes traditional and contemporary songs. One of the most entertaining performers on the circuit: - Reviewers have likened him to Richard Thompson and Nic Jones. Martin also leads a group working in the field of English Traditional Music and Country Dancing and facilitates workshops and study days, with live music played on Melodeon, Violin and Guitar.
Jan	31st	George Pilch	George will tonight host "Burns Night" in true fashion, complete with Kilt, Neeps and Tatties.

Feb 7th J P Slidewell Photo of Guest J.P. Slidewell is local performer John Poole, formerley lead singer with the "Slidewells" a singer of traditional folksong, who is well known around the area. If you prefer traditional songs, then tonight is a must for you! He accompanies himself on guitar and sings mostly English, with some Scottish and Irish songs.
Feb 14th Geoff Hegginbottom Photo of Guest This powerful voice from the North West sings traditional, sea shanties, rousing chorus songs, contemporary & self-penned songs from his own Busby Babes & Peterloo either unaccompanied or with guitar or bodhran.
Feb 21st Fyrish FYRISH is a folk duo of Marjorie Paterson (cello) and Dave Cowan (vocals and guitar). Marjorie originally from the Black Isle, loves to play cello accompaniments in a wide range of styles. Dave, from Glasgow, is a singer and guitar player, has a very fine voice, and has been singing traditional and contemporary folk songs for many years. He has a relaxed, easy style and a mellow voice. FYRISH have a wide repertoire of folk songs from all over the world, with lyrics which will grab your attention, and melodies to warm the heart. So, go and listen to them! There’s a treat in store for you!
Feb 28th Ann English Photo of Guest With 30 years on the folk scene Ann English (Kinder Folk, Wits End) is a very popular local singer/songwriter with quality guitar. Her latest CD was released on Friday 6 Feb 2004. Ann is one of the "Acoustic Collective" who run the Tuesday night session at The Old General, Dukinfield. She is also on the organising committee of the forthcoming Dukinfield Music Festival.

Mar 7th Kevin Tarpey and Steve Woolley Photo of Guest Kevin and Steve are both excellent musicians with a wide choice of material. They have run the popular Full Circle folk club on a Friday night for many years. The Full Circle Folk Club is now based and The Park, Crumpstall. (Along the side of Heaton Park)

Mar 28th Ben Campbell Ben Campbell has been performing in Folk Clubs since the 60's. The first club he sang in was in Singapore whilst he was serving with the Royal Marines! He is Tyneside born and bred, but for the last 25 years has lived in South. He performs material - from Dartmoor legends to Lighthouses - including stories - from his home county. Resident singer and bookings organiser for many years with "Folk on the Moor" on the edge of South Dartmoor, he regularly performs at South West festivals and Folk Clubs. With a quiet, yet compelling stage presence and with his strong guitar playing and earthy voice - he is a performer you simply should not miss.

Apr 4th Cathryn Craig and Brian Willoughby Photo of Guest Welcome return to this popular duo. Cathryn from Tennessee, is one of the finest acoustic performers/songwriters in the UK today. Brian best known as guitarist for the STRAWBS, Maddy Prior, and Nanci Griffin, he began his professional career with Mary Hopkin. Expect a wonderful night.
Apr 11th Dave Ellis and Bruce Baillie Photo of Guest Dave Ellis has been 20 years on the road for over 20 years, he first started playing guitar age nine, first live gigs started aged 17, working local colleges. Blues Guitarist Dave works in a solo capacity featuring acoustic and electric guitar work. Bruce Baillie from West Yorkshire who excels in amusing songs.
Apr 18th Phil Hare Photo of Guest Fine, beautiful acoustic guitarist/songwriter, rich, husky voice, humorous stage banter. Widely regarded as one of the finest and most distinctive acoustic guitarists working on the current folk music circuit. The New York based magazine DIRTY LINEN wrote: 'The songs are British, maybe even Northern English, but this guy is clearly a world class player'.
Apr 25th Whitney Gin Photo of Guest OVER THE PAST 21 YEARS, Whitney Gin have become an established part of the Northern Folk Scene. The band's speciality is vocal harmony, either acapella, or tastefully accompanied, with laid-back, tongue in cheek humour. The Whitney Gin Band are : Mick Folkard: guitar and vocals Tony Suttill: bass, vocals Phil Donely: keyboards, vocals Chris Folkard: Guitar, mandolin, vocals. Material spans from traditional folk ballads, through gospel, soul, and pop, to barbershop, with just about everything in between. WHITNEY GIN HAVE performed at many of the leading folkclubs in Yorkshire and the North, and have appeared at Folk Festivals in Cleckheaton, Otley, Wakefield and Stainsby. They are a welcome addition to any event.

May 16th Richard Grainger A professional performer for over 15 years and is best known as a solo artist Grainger is a strong singer & his extensive repertoire of traditional material is delivered with & without accompaniment of his guitar. Richard is a native of Middlesbrough & he is passionate about his roots, the contrasting worlds of industrial Teesside & the the moor & cliffs of the Cleveland Coast. Several of his songs are widely sung throughout the English speaking world

June 6th Fred Loader Photo of Guest A rare opportunity to see Fred Loader. Kevin Tarpey says of Fred "He is one of the best musicians on the local folk scene. Virtuoso level on guitar and mandolin! Great singer, doesn't write songs as far as I know but has a great repertoire. Covers Bob Dylan, Donavon, James Taylor, Ry Cooder, Paul Simon,etc. He's also the best slide guitarist I've ever seen. He played for many years with Dave Burrows as Nightshift. They split up about six years ago, but got back together for a one off gig at the Full Circle the other year. It was quite a night!"
